Pallavi (Sprout/Florescence):
Pallavi,
literally means "to elaborate". It is the
softest and glamoured department of Odissi dance.
Preliminarily, dancers move their eyes, head and neck
keeping apace at par in foot with rhythm. It is started
from slow rhythm and added by different dance pieces
amid time to time. As a bud gradually blooms into
a flower; it's rhythm gradually increases and ends
in a speedy rhythm. "Pallavi" is prepared
by tilting in different "Raagas" of Odissi.
The most popular "raagas" are Arabhi, Shankarabharanam,
Kalyan and Basant. Many new "Pallavis" are
being composed in different "raagas" and
choreographed.
